Saudi Arabia To Host 2026 Nuclear Science Olympiad

Saudi Arabia will host the third International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO 2026) in Jeddah, bringing together students and experts from 19 countries to promote education and innovation in the peaceful use of nuclear science.

The event will take place from August 2 to 9 at King Abdulaziz University and is being organized by the Ministry of Education, the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), and the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE).

Around 120 students and scientific specialists are expected to participate. The opening ceremony is scheduled for August 3 under the patronage of Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region.

Approved by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in 2024, the International Nuclear Science Olympiad provides a platform for students to exchange knowledge on nuclear science and its peaceful applications. The competition also aims to encourage young people to pursue careers in the field while promoting the safe and responsible use of nuclear technology.

Mawhiba Secretary-General Abdulaziz Al-Kuraidis said hosting the event reflects Saudi Arabia’s continued investment in gifted students and scientific excellence. He also highlighted the role of the Ministry of Education and KACARE in supporting the Olympiad and expanding opportunities for students in advanced scientific fields.

Saudi Arabia has participated in the competition since its inaugural edition in the Philippines in 2024 and the following edition in Malaysia in 2025, winning five international awards, including one silver and three bronze medals.
