Saudi Arabia Intercepts Drones Entering From Iraq

Saudi Arabia said it intercepted and destroyed three drones that entered the Kingdom’s airspace from Iraqi territory, in an incident that has added to growing regional tensions.

The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced that the drones were detected and intercepted on Sunday morning before reaching their targets. Military spokesman Major General Turki al-Maliki said the Kingdom would take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security and residents.

He added that Saudi Arabia reserves the right to respond “at the appropriate time and place” against any threat targeting the country.

According to the ministry, the drones crossed into Saudi airspace from Iraq, though no group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

The incident comes amid heightened instability in the region following escalating tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States, with concerns growing over the possibility of wider spillover across neighboring countries.

Saudi authorities did not report casualties or damage from the intercepted drones, but officials described the incident as a direct threat to national security.

Kuwait later condemned the attack and expressed support for Saudi Arabia’s measures to defend itself. In a statement, Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said it stands with the Kingdom in preserving its security and stability, adding that such attacks threaten regional peace and violate international law.
