The first-ever Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Half Marathon 2025 is scheduled to take place on Tuesday morning at Lusail Boulevard in Doha. The marathon will bring together runners from around the world. With participants from over 100 countries, the event will highlight Qatar’s commitment to promoting health and fitness. This coincides with the celebration of Qatar’s National Sports Day.
The marathon will feature four race categories: the main 21 km Half Marathon, a 10 km race, a 5 km race, and a 1 km fun run. The half marathon begins at 6:00 AM, the 10 km race at 7:00 AM, the 5 km race at 7:30 AM, and the fun run at 8:30 AM.
In addition to the races, the QOC will organize various sports activities and entertainment at Team Qatar Village in Al Sa’ad Plaza, Lusail. This event, supported by several national sports federations, will include athletics, football, basketball, volleyball, golf, and martial arts, among other sports.
The event’s organizers have made thorough preparations to ensure a smooth experience for participants. Hydration stations and first-aid points will be strategically placed along the course for safety. Race headquarters at Al Sa’ad Plaza has already opened to welcome participants. They are collecting their race kits and familiarizing themselves with the course.
Salah Al Saadi, Assistant Director of the Sport Events Department at the QOC, expressed pride in the meticulous organization of the event. He believes it will leave a lasting impact. “Lusail Boulevard holds historical significance, having hosted the closing moments of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. This event will contribute to the lasting legacy of Lusail, inspiring future generations of Qataris,” he said.
Ahead of the race, volunteers received training to support the event’s successful execution. A briefing was held on February 5. Volunteers learned about logistics, site layout, and their roles on the day of the race. On February 9, they will visit Lusail Boulevard for final preparations. This includes receiving uniforms and finalizing their responsibilities.
This event marks a significant step in Qatar’s efforts to foster a strong sporting culture. It aligns with the country’s National Vision 2030. The QOC’s mission is to position Qatar as a global leader in sports development and inclusivity. They aim to contribute to a healthier, more active society.
