Oman Approves Transfer of Ghazeer Pipeline to Strengthen National Gas Network

Oman took a major step to strengthen its energy system as the Integrated Gas Company approved the transfer of the Ghazeer pipeline. This move highlights the importance of a strong and efficient national gas infrastructure. Authorities stressed that a strong and efficient national gas infrastructure improves reliability, transparency, and long-term sustainability. The government also emphasized that a strong and efficient national gas infrastructure supports economic growth and energy security.

The transfer covers the BP Block 61 Ghazeer Gas Export Pipeline (Phase 2) moving to OQ Gas Networks. IGC conducted a detailed technical and commercial review before approving the plan. In addition, IGC coordinated with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals and the Ministry of Finance to ensure compliance with regulations.

The asset value for the pipeline is RO40 million ($104 million), matching parameters under Oman’s regulated system. Officials confirmed that the approval promotes fair valuation and long-term planning. They added that the transfer aligns with the country’s broader energy strategy and ensures smooth operations across the national network.

The 65-km pipeline plays a key role in connecting gas facilities, enhancing operational efficiency, and improving system reliability. By integrating it into OQ Gas Networks, Oman expects better coordination and stronger support for growing energy demand. This step also demonstrates the government’s focus on maintaining a robust and efficient energy system.

IGC emphasized that its approval process guarantees transparency and regulatory compliance. Authorities confirmed that operations will continue without interruption. The transfer also shows the importance of strategic planning and teamwork in Oman’s energy sector.

Overall, this pipeline transfer highlights Oman’s proactive energy approach. By maintaining a strong and efficient national gas infrastructure, the country can meet future demand, improve reliability, and support sustainable development. Officials stated that ongoing initiatives will continue to focus on efficiency, transparency, and strong energy management.
