Oman Strengthens Digital Growth with National Digital Economy Programme Initiatives

On Thursday, the Technical Committee for the National Digital Economy Programme held its 2025 session, chaired by Dr. Ali Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology for Communications and IT. Committee members reviewed the programme’s performance over the past year and set clear targets for 2026–2030. They emphasized that Oman’s digital transformation initiatives will improve efficiency and strengthen regional and global competitiveness.

The committee stressed the need for government units to cooperate actively to implement the programme successfully. Members discussed aligning administrative structures and operational workflows to ensure consistent application of digital transformation initiatives across all sectors. They highlighted that collaboration between ministries and authorities plays a key role in achieving measurable results.

Officials explored how integrating innovative technologies can advance public services and economic sectors. They outlined plans to use artificial intelligence, data analytics, and cloud solutions to streamline operations and create smarter government services. They also noted that improving digital infrastructure will attract investment, encourage entrepreneurship, and boost private sector participation.

The committee stressed continuous monitoring and evaluation to track progress effectively. They will measure results regularly, adjust strategies when needed, and engage stakeholders to contribute ideas that enhance efficiency and innovation.
