Saudi Arabia AI Talent Growth Strengthens Global Ranking

Saudi Arabia continues to gain momentum in the tech sector as Saudi Arabia AI talent now ranks among the top 20 globally. A new survey revealed the Kingdom holds 0.7 percent of the global AI talent pool, placing it ahead of several advanced economies.

The Global AI Competitiveness Index highlights both Saudi Arabia and the UAE as emerging global AI hubs. The UAE holds 0.4 percent of the world’s AI talent, outperforming countries like Russia and Italy. This positions the region as a rising force in artificial intelligence.

This recognition directly supports Saudi Arabia’s National Strategy for Data and AI. The plan aims to place the Kingdom among the top 15 countries in AI and one of the top 10 in open data. Furthermore, it seeks to drive global leadership in AI publications and research.

Analysts predict that Saudi Arabia AI talent will significantly contribute to national growth. PwC projects artificial intelligence will add over $235 billion to the Kingdom’s GDP by 2030. That accounts for more than 12 percent of total national output.

Strategic investment is a driving force behind this success. Saudi Arabia committed $20 billion to global partnerships, including major collaborations with Stanford University. These efforts support advanced research and innovation through institutions like KAUST.

In fact, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology now ranks among the top 150 universities worldwide for AI talent. It also stands as the top AI university in the Middle East. This shows how Saudi Arabia AI talent continues to advance through education and targeted development programs.

In addition, local initiatives play a crucial role. Programs such as 10,000 Coders help train young Saudis with practical AI skills. These programs create a skilled workforce and support long-term innovation.

Sovereign wealth also drives growth. The Public Investment Fund launched a $1.5 billion AI-focused fund. Meanwhile, AI development shapes Neom, where over 30 percent of its $500 billion budget goes to AI infrastructure.

The Kingdom’s rapid progress benefits from fast government approvals and centralized leadership. The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority coordinates key decisions and ensures quick project rollouts.

As part of Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia AI talent stands at the center of economic transformation. With solid strategy and investment, the Kingdom prepares to become a global leader in AI development.
