UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis discussed regional security challenges and the impact of rising tensions on international navigation during a phone call on Monday.
The two leaders reviewed developments linked to the conflict between Iran and the United States, including concerns over disruptions to shipping routes in the region.
The renewed tensions have affected maritime activity around the Strait of Hormuz, a key global trade route. The United States has rejected claims from Tehran that the waterway has been closed.
During the call, Sheikh Mohamed and Mitsotakis discussed ongoing efforts to address regional challenges and promote stability.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties under the UAE-Greece Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which covers cooperation in areas including investment, technology, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy.
The UAE and Greece have continued to expand cooperation in recent years, with both countries marking 50 years of diplomatic relations.
During Mitsotakis’ visit to Abu Dhabi in May, the two leaders witnessed agreements focused on artificial intelligence and technology cooperation, reflecting their shared interest in advancing innovation and economic partnerships.
