The Rwanga Foundation has launched a vocational training program to help university students in the Kurdistan Region develop practical skills that match labor market needs.
The initiative began at the University of Kurdistan-Hewler (UKH) in partnership with the university and the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. It expands on a training program first introduced for the wider public in April.
The program focuses on five fields with growing demand, including solar energy, graphic design, digital marketing, mobile phone repair, and automotive mechanics.
Rwanga Foundation General Consultant Ranjdar Kamaran said the initiative was developed to support youth employment and provide students with skills that complement their academic education.
A total of 125 students will take part in the program, with each course lasting 45 days. Training sessions will be delivered by local and international instructors to strengthen participants’ technical abilities and professional confidence.
Students at UKH welcomed the opportunity, saying the courses could help them gain additional experience and improve their career prospects after graduation.

Founded in 2013 by Idris Nechirvan Barzani, the Rwanga Foundation focuses on youth empowerment, education, and environmental sustainability across the Kurdistan Region.
The foundation said the program aims to bridge the gap between university education and workplace requirements by preparing young people with practical skills for future employment opportunities.
