Qatar Sets Expected Eid Al-Adha 2026 Dates

Qatar has announced preliminary dates for Eid Al-Adha 2026 based on astronomical calculations, offering early guidance on the expected timing of one of the most significant religious observances in the Islamic calendar.

According to the Qatar News Agency, the first day of Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH is expected to fall on Monday, 18 May 2026. Based on these calculations, Wednesday, 27 May 2026, is projected to be the first day of Eid Al-Adha.

The announcement reflects the country’s use of astronomical data to anticipate lunar calendar events, while final confirmation of Islamic holidays across the region typically remains subject to official moon-sighting procedures.

The Eid Al-Adha 2026 dates in Qatar were supported by commentary from the Qatar Calendar House, which noted that the crescent moon for Dhul Hijjah would be formed late on the observation day, making it impossible to sight the new moon in Qatar and other parts of the Arab and Islamic world.

Despite this, religious authorities across the region continue to rely on a combination of astronomical calculations and traditional moon-sighting committees to confirm the official start of Islamic months.

The Eid Al-Adha 2026 dates in Qatar are expected to align broadly with other Gulf states, which also anticipate the holiday around late May, coinciding with the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Makkah.
