Oman Tops Asia for Quality of Life in 2026 Ranking

Oman has been named the highest-ranked country in Asia for quality of life, securing third place globally in the Numbeo Quality of Life Index 2026 Mid-Year.

The Sultanate earned an overall score of 203.9, sharing third position with Denmark. The Netherlands ranked first with 205.6, followed by Luxembourg with 204.8.

Within Asia, Oman led the rankings, ahead of Qatar in second place and Japan in third.

Numbeo’s index measures quality of life using a range of indicators, including purchasing power, public safety, healthcare, cost of living, property affordability, traffic commute times, pollution levels and climate.

Oman’s strong performance was supported by high levels of safety, quality healthcare services, low pollution, a favorable climate and relatively short commuting times. The results also placed the country at the top of the Arab world in the latest assessment.

Numbeo, one of the world’s largest crowd-sourced databases on living conditions, regularly updates the index using user-contributed information alongside statistical indicators to compare the quality of life across countries and cities.
