The Sultanate of Oman has formally strengthened its engagement with the global tourism sector after its ambassador to Spain presented credentials as the country’s Permanent Representative to UN Tourism.
During an official ceremony at the organization’s headquarters in Madrid, Ambassador Thamer Faiz Al Alawi submitted his credentials to Shaikha Nasser Al Nowais.
The meeting included discussions on cooperation between Oman and the UN agency, with both sides reviewing opportunities to expand collaboration in sustainable tourism and support the continued development of the tourism sector.
Officials also explored ways to strengthen partnership initiatives that contribute to shared development goals and enhance the role of tourism in economic growth.
The appointment comes as Oman continues efforts to promote sustainable tourism and increase the sector’s contribution to the national economy through international cooperation and long-term development initiatives.
