Kuwait Strengthens Governance as New Anti-Corruption Board Takes Charge

Kuwait reinforces anti-corruption efforts as the newly appointed board of the Public Authority for Anti-Corruption takes charge. Officials emphasized that anti-corruption measures remain a national priority. The Minister of Justice introduced the board members to the Amir during a high-level meeting in Kuwait City.

The board includes Chairperson Dr Rana Al-Fares, Vice Chairperson Dr Majed Al-Daihani, and trustees Rania Al-Fulaij, Dr Abdullah Al-Dabbous, and Dhi Al-Otaibi. Each member pledged to pursue strict policies that promote transparency, integrity, and accountability across government institutions.

During the meeting, the Amir highlighted the importance of national unity and safeguarding public resources. He encouraged the board to implement the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, apply laws equally, and strengthen governance mechanisms. The Amir stressed that anti-corruption measures must evolve to face modern challenges and protect Kuwait’s economic and political stability.

Minister of Justice Nasser Al-Sumait emphasized collaboration between government bodies. He urged the board to maintain clear communication with all ministries and agencies, ensuring seamless implementation of regulations. Furthermore, he highlighted the need for proactive measures, public awareness campaigns, and efficient reporting channels.

The new board members vowed to increase oversight of public projects and financial transactions. They also committed to identifying potential risks and preventing misuse of public funds. Dr Rana Al-Fares underlined that their main objective is to foster public trust while enforcing laws impartially.

In addition, the board plans to introduce updated frameworks and policies to align with international best practices. These initiatives will support Kuwait’s strategic vision for sustainable development and economic resilience. Officials stated that anti-corruption measures are essential to boosting foreign investment, enhancing governance, and promoting public confidence.

This step reflects Kuwait’s determination to strengthen transparency in the public sector. Observers noted that the government’s proactive approach could serve as a model for other countries in the Gulf region.

The board’s activities will focus on monitoring, evaluation, and enforcement, alongside educational campaigns to increase citizen awareness. Authorities highlighted that digital platforms will play a key role in reporting irregularities and streamlining oversight processes.

Kuwait’s commitment to transparency and accountability demonstrates a long-term vision for good governance and sustainable growth.
