Kuwait authorities have arrested 1,253 people during a large-scale security operation in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh as part of an ongoing campaign targeting residency, labor and public safety violations.
The Ministry of Interior said the operation was carried out under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah. The campaign was supervised by Undersecretary Lt Gen Abdulwahab Al-Wuhaib and involved several government agencies working together to strengthen security and address long-standing violations in the area.
Officials said inspection teams continued searching residential buildings and monitoring the district to prevent further breaches of the law. During the operation, authorities also found 36 children living with their mothers and said their cases had been referred to the relevant legal authorities.
The campaign extended beyond security enforcement, with multiple government bodies carrying out inspections and corrective measures across the district.
Kuwait Municipality issued 777 violation notices, removed 27 abandoned vehicles and placed warning notices on another 64. Cleaning operations were also carried out on several roads, including those surrounding Al-Tamayoz Private School.
The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said it reduced electricity demand in Farwaniya Governorate by 60 percent after disconnecting power to around 1,200 properties found to be in violation of regulations.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works identified 1,432 buildings considered at risk of collapse, closed 20 illegal sewage connections and dealt with 60 sewage overflow incidents.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued 256 violations and ordered the closure of 10 businesses. Health authorities treated 784 people at a shelter centre and transferred 61 patients to hospitals for further care.
Other agencies also reported enforcement actions. The Kuwait Fire Force implemented 188 administrative closure orders, while the Environment Public Authority issued 90 environmental violation notices and referred them to prosecutors.
The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition recorded 315 violations, destroyed unsafe food in nine cases and requested the closure of 12 businesses.
The Public Authority of Manpower inspected more than 6,500 commercial establishments, identifying 1,471 businesses in violation of regulations. Inspectors also reviewed the cases of 376 individuals, uncovered 129 suspected residency permit trading offences and referred 110 people from a migrant workers’ shelter to the deportation department.
The Interior Ministry said the latest operation builds on earlier phases of the campaign, which included clearing illegal housing and arresting individuals wanted by authorities or found to be violating residency and labor laws.
Officials said similar security operations will continue in other areas as part of a nationwide effort to strengthen public order, enforce regulations and improve living conditions.
