Kuwait Advances Plans For Gulf Skills Event

Kuwait has begun preparations to host the sixth edition of the Gulf Technical and Vocational Skills Competition in 2027, as officials step up coordination to organise the regional event.

A meeting of the Higher Executive Committee for the competition was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Dr Hassan Al-Fajjam, Director General of the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET).

Officials said the event represents an important platform for cooperation among Gulf Cooperation Council member states, with a focus on strengthening youth skills and promoting technical education.

Dr Al-Fajjam highlighted the role of the competition in developing vocational and technical capabilities, describing it as part of wider efforts to support innovation and align training with labour market needs. He also confirmed that Kuwait is committed to providing the resources needed to ensure the success of the event.

During the meeting, the official Gulf Skills Competition flag was formally handed over to Kuwait’s PAAET, marking the start of official preparations. Organisers reviewed logistical, technical and administrative plans, along with coordination mechanisms between working committees.

Discussions also covered timelines and readiness measures aimed at ensuring a well-organised edition that reflects Kuwait’s experience in education and training.

The Gulf Skills Competition, established under a 2007 decision by GCC labour ministers, brings together young participants from across the region to develop technical and vocational skills in line with international standards.

Kuwait’s hosting of the upcoming edition is expected to further strengthen regional cooperation in education and workforce development.
