The Khaitan Campaign resulted in 693 arrests and violations during a coordinated security operation in Kuwait, the Ministry of Interior announced Sunday. Authorities conducted the operation last Thursday, bringing together security personnel and several government agencies to enforce regulations and address public safety concerns.
The Farwaniya Governorate Security Directorate led the campaign with support from the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, the Public Authority for Manpower, Kuwait Municipality, the Kuwait Fire Force and the Environment Public Authority. Meanwhile, participating teams inspected commercial premises, checked residency compliance and identified violations across several regulatory areas.
Police arrested 65 people over absconding from work or expired residency permits. In addition, officers detained seven people for overstaying their visas and one person prohibited from entering Kuwait. Authorities also apprehended three individuals wanted under arrest warrants involving debt-related cases.
The operation additionally targeted people wanted in criminal investigations. Police executed an arrest order involving a drug case and another concerning theft. Officers also arrested one person in a separate drug case and another individual for intoxication.
Traffic enforcement formed another part of the operation. Police issued 44 traffic violations and impounded 33 abandoned vehicles. Furthermore, officers seized two vehicles connected to breach-of-trust cases and another vehicle wanted in a theft investigation.
The Public Authority for Manpower identified 13 labor-law violations at commercial shops. Separately, the Environment Public Authority recorded two violations involving improper material storage. These findings added to the range of regulatory issues uncovered during the coordinated inspections.
The Kuwait Fire Force issued 202 notices requiring establishments to correct violations. It also closed 43 establishments and delivered 25 warnings. These measures addressed concerns falling within the agency’s fire-safety and compliance responsibilities.
Meanwhile, the electricity and water ministry identified two cases involving electricity-meter tampering and direct connections to the power supply. Authorities linked the violations to suspected fraud and electricity theft. Such cases can undermine utility regulations and expose providers to unauthorized consumption.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry recorded 18 commercial violations during the campaign. Inspectors examined issues involving prices, promotional offers, invoices, product information and commercial licensing. Consequently, the operation covered both business compliance and broader security enforcement.
Kuwait Municipality reported 108 violations involving building regulations. It also placed 53 notices on properties covered by Law No. 125 of 1992. Additionally, municipal inspectors issued 21 violation reports against shops and three reports concerning unauthorized road use.
Municipal teams also carried out cleaning operations at seven locations. During that work, they removed 33 abandoned vehicles and two loads of fruit and vegetables. These activities complemented the inspections by addressing neglected vehicles and materials occupying public spaces.
The Ministry of Interior said authorities were pursuing legal procedures against those arrested and businesses found violating regulations. It also confirmed that coordinated campaigns would continue alongside the relevant government agencies. Officials described these operations as part of wider efforts to strengthen security and protect public safety.
The results illustrate how the Khaitan Campaign combined criminal enforcement with labor, commercial, environmental, municipal and fire-safety inspections. However, the announced figures cover several different types of arrests and regulatory violations, rather than arrests alone. Authorities have not provided further details about individual cases or the final penalties that violators may face.
