Iraqi leaders have extended condolences to Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani following the death of his father, former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Iraq’s President Nizar Amedi expressed the country’s solidarity with Qatar’s leadership and people, offering his condolences to Sheikh Tamim, the Al Thani family, and the Qatari nation during the period of mourning.
Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi also sent a message of sympathy, expressing condolences on behalf of the Iraqi government and people. He prayed for mercy for the late emir and patience for his family and the people of Qatar.
Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani also offered condolences, describing Sheikh Hamad’s passing as a significant loss. He extended his sympathies to Sheikh Tamim, the Al Thani family, and the people of Qatar.
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani died on Sunday at the age of 74. He ruled Qatar from 1995 until 2013 and was widely recognized for overseeing the country’s rapid economic development and growing international influence.
He later transferred power to his son, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in a peaceful transition that marked a new chapter for Qatar.
