Global Airports Forum Riyadh Awards Draw 200 Nominations

The aviation industry is focusing on Global Airports Forum Riyadh this December. Consequently, the event has received more than 200 nominations from 23 countries. This strong response reflects rising global interest in airport innovation.

The forum will take place in Riyadh on December 16 and 17. It will bring together airport operators, technology providers, and decision makers. Meanwhile, the third Airport Excellence Awards will headline the event.

Niche Ideas organizes the forum with support from Matarat Holding. Together, they aim to highlight operational excellence and industry transformation. Moreover, the awards celebrate progress across the global aviation sector.

The nominations show broad international participation. Companies submitted projects focused on sustainability, digital transformation, and security. In addition, others highlighted improvements in passenger experience and airport efficiency.

Saudi Arabia recorded a notable presence among nominees. Local companies joined international aviation leaders. This combination, therefore, underlines the Kingdom’s expanding influence in the global aviation industry.

Several Saudi based firms earned nominations across multiple categories. Additionally, global aviation companies with regional operations also competed. Their participation strengthens the forum’s international profile.

The event will take place at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center. It marks the fourth edition of the forum. As a result, thousands of aviation professionals are expected to attend.

The Airport Excellence Awards cover ten categories. These include airport infrastructure, security, sustainability, and technology. Furthermore, other awards focus on training, baggage handling, and passenger services.

Organizers emphasized innovation as a central theme. They noted aviation’s ability to evolve despite legacy systems. Therefore, innovation remains closely aligned with national aviation goals.

Saudi Arabia continues to expand its airport network rapidly. In 2024, Saudi airports handled 128 million passengers. Moreover, this achievement set a new national record.

Passenger numbers increased by 15 percent year on year. Flight activity also rose significantly. Additionally, air cargo volumes reached 1.2 million tonnes.

The Kingdom plans more than 100 billion dollars in aviation investment. Airport development will receive a large share. These projects, therefore, support Vision 2030 objectives.

Authorities aim to connect 250 global destinations. They also target 330 million passengers annually by 2030. Meanwhile, advanced technology already supports these ambitions.

Recent initiatives include passenger flow management systems. Saudi Arabia also launched a virtual air traffic control tower. Consequently, these steps highlight rapid modernization.
