Dubai RTA Bridge Project Boosts Access to Dubai Harbour

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is advancing its bridge project, enhancing access to Dubai Harbour. The 1,500-metre bridge project promises smoother traffic and improved connectivity, showing the city’s commitment to modern infrastructure. The bridge construction progress reflects a major step toward achieving faster, more efficient routes to key waterfront destinations.

The RTA has completed 65 percent of the bridge construction works, marking significant progress toward project completion. Meanwhile, contractors finished 90 percent of utility service upgrades intersecting the project. These works include rerouting and adjusting pipelines, electrical lines, and other essential services. In addition, approved traffic diversions maintain smooth vehicle flow during ongoing construction.

The bridge will connect Sheikh Zayed Road directly to Dubai Harbour, reducing travel time significantly. It spans from Interchange 5 near the American University in Dubai, passing through Al Naseem Street and Al Falak Street intersections. The route continues over King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street and links to Dubai Harbour Street. Once completed, the bridge will reduce travel time from 12 minutes to just three minutes.

The bridge features two lanes in each direction, supporting a total capacity of around 6,000 vehicles per hour. Along the corridor, the project also improves four major intersections: Interchange 5 on Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Falak Street with Al Naseem Street, King Salman Street with Al Naseem Street, and Dubai Harbour Street. These upgrades will enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion in the surrounding areas.

RTA officials emphasized that the bridge is a key component of Dubai’s broader infrastructure strategy. The project supports urban development, encourages tourism, and provides efficient access to Dubai Harbour, one of the largest yacht marinas in the Middle East. Furthermore, the bridge will strengthen transport networks connecting residential, commercial, and leisure areas.

Analysts say the project demonstrates Dubai’s focus on sustainable urban mobility and high-quality infrastructure. It also highlights the city’s ability to integrate construction with ongoing utility operations and traffic management. By completing the bridge efficiently, the RTA ensures that Dubai Harbour becomes even more accessible for residents, visitors, and commercial activity.

Overall, the bridge project represents a milestone in Dubai’s transport planning. The emphasis on improving connectivity, reducing travel time, and supporting urban growth underscores the importance of Dubai Harbour access points. This key infrastructure initiative strengthens the city’s position as a global waterfront destination while enhancing the overall transport network.
