Dhofar Development Initiatives Focus on Infrastructure, Sustainability, and Public Services in Salalah

The Dhofar development initiatives took center stage during the Municipal Council meeting in Salalah. Officials reviewed key service projects and strategies to enhance urban infrastructure. Moreover, the council focused on improving residents’ quality of life while promoting environmental sustainability.

The session featured a detailed presentation by Dhofar Municipality, showcasing park and garden projects across various wilayats. These efforts align with urban expansion plans and address the needs of both residents and visitors. Additionally, the council discussed measures to improve operational efficiency and public services.

A major proposal included establishing an integrated service station for truck parking areas. This initiative aims to create a comprehensive service environment for the land transport and freight sector. Furthermore, it is expected to regulate truck movement and support economic activity in the governorate.

The meeting also highlighted environmental efforts through collaboration with the Green Gulf Recycling Centre. As the first and largest e-waste recycling facility in Oman, the center operates in Salalah. Its mission focuses on safe disposal of electrical and electronic equipment and promoting a circular economy.

Specialists emphasized that Dhofar development initiatives include coordination with public and private entities to reduce environmental impact. They also stressed raising public awareness about responsible e-waste disposal. The council explored ways to support and facilitate the center’s operations further.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed outcomes of main committee sessions, addressing ongoing challenges and planning future development steps. Officials evaluated the progress of various municipal projects and identified priorities for the coming months.

Council members reiterated the importance of sustainability in all Dhofar development initiatives. They emphasized that urban expansion must balance public needs, economic growth, and environmental responsibility. Moreover, this approach reflects Oman’s commitment to reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.

Dhofar development initiatives continue to advance local infrastructure, enhance public services, and promote environmental stewardship. The Municipal Council remains focused on sustainable growth and comprehensive support for residents and businesses.
