Bahrain renewed calls for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan as violence continues to spread across the country. At the same time, officials stressed that dialogue offers the only realistic political solution. Through diplomacy, Bahrain believes Sudan can preserve unity and protect territorial integrity. Moreover, continued fighting threatens long-term stability and deepens national divisions. Therefore, Bahrain urged all parties to prioritize political engagement over military escalation.
During a United Nations Security Council briefing, Bahrain clearly outlined its position on the conflict. The statement focused on the deteriorating situation, especially in the Darfur region. As violence intensifies, civilian suffering continues to rise. Armed clashes have displaced families and disrupted livelihoods across affected areas. In addition, ongoing insecurity has limited humanitarian access and delayed relief efforts. Consequently, vulnerable communities face worsening conditions each day.
Bahrain expressed grave concern over the growing number of civilian casualties. Furthermore, widespread destruction has damaged infrastructure and essential civilian facilities. Hospitals, homes, and public services have suffered severe losses. As a result, access to healthcare, food, and clean water has sharply declined. Bahrain also warned that these developments violate international humanitarian and human rights laws. Therefore, urgent action remains necessary to protect civilians and reduce further harm.
In response, Bahrain emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach addressing humanitarian and legal responsibilities together. However, officials stressed that judicial sovereignty must remain a priority. According to the principle of complementarity under the Rome Statute, national courts carry primary responsibility. International legal mechanisms should support, not replace, domestic judicial systems. This balance, Bahrain argued, strengthens accountability while preserving national ownership.
Bahrain also highlighted ongoing cooperation between Sudan and the International Criminal Court. This cooperation follows a memorandum signed in August 2021. Accordingly, Bahrain encouraged continued engagement that builds national institutional capacity. At the same time, officials cautioned against undermining Sudan’s control over judicial processes. Justice efforts should support stability, not deepen political tensions.
Finally, Bahrain reaffirmed support for the Sudanese people’s aspirations for peace and development. Officials stressed that unity remains essential for recovery and long-term prosperity. Without stability, economic growth and social cohesion remain unreachable. For this reason, Bahrain again called for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan. Through dialogue and diplomacy, Bahrain believes Sudan can move toward peace and prevent further deterioration.
