Bahrain And France Discuss Expanding Parliamentary Cooperation

Bahrain and France have underlined the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation as officials from both countries met in Manama to discuss ways to deepen bilateral relations.

Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of Bahrain’s Shura Council, received a delegation from the French Senate led by Olivier Cadic, chairman of the France-Bahrain Friendship Group and senator representing French citizens living abroad. The meeting was also attended by Eric Giraud-Telme, France’s ambassador to Bahrain.

During the talks, Fakhro highlighted the longstanding relationship between Bahrain and France, describing it as a partnership that continues to expand across multiple sectors. He said the two countries have benefited from sustained efforts to enhance cooperation and strengthen ties with friendly nations.

The discussions focused on parliamentary relations, including the exchange of visits, legislative expertise, and coordination between the Shura Council and the French Senate. Both sides stressed the role of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting international cooperation, sustainable development, and global stability.

Fakhro noted that closer engagement between legislative institutions could help align positions on issues of mutual interest and strengthen cooperation in regional and international forums.

Cadic praised Bahrain’s development and legislative progress, expressing the French Senate’s commitment to advancing cooperation with the Shura Council. He also emphasized the importance of activating friendship groups and expanding parliamentary engagement to support shared interests.

The meeting was attended by several members of Bahrain’s Shura Council, including Mohammed Ali Hassan Ali, Bassam Ismail Al-Banmohammed, and Nancy Dina Elie Khadouri.
