Shura Council Condemns Israel’s Renewed Aggression on Gaza

The Shura Council has strongly condemned Israel’s renewed aggression against Gaza, calling it a blatant violation of international laws. The council denounced the continued attacks on Palestinian civilians, including women and children, and urged immediate global intervention.

Attacks Undermine Peace Efforts

During its weekly session, chaired by Speaker HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, the council reaffirmed that Israel’s actions undermine international peace efforts. It stated that these attacks deliberately sabotage attempts to reach a ceasefire and protect innocent lives. The council stressed that continued aggression will only escalate tensions. Furthermore, it will worsen the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Call for Urgent Action

The council emphasized the need for decisive international intervention to halt Israel’s violations. It highlighted the importance to ensure Palestinian protection and reiterated Qatar’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause. Furthermore, it affirmed the right of Palestinians to self-determination. The council reaffirmed the demand for an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This is aligned with the Arab Peace Initiative and international resolutions.

Other Key Discussions

Beyond the discussion on Gaza, the council approved a draft law on ministers and referred it to the government for further review. It also discussed reports on its participation in global parliamentary meetings. These included a session on countering the use of AI in terrorism. Additionally, it included a session on combating violence against women.

The Shura Council remains committed to addressing pressing international and legislative issues while upholding Qatar’s stance on global justice and human rights.
