Bahrain Parliament Engages Students in Parliamentary Training

The General Secretariat of the Council of Representatives welcomed a group of university trainees on Tuesday, February 25. These students participated in the National Program for Practical Training for University Students, organized by the Bahrain Institute for Political Development. This initiative aims to enhance youth awareness of parliamentary work and the democratic process in Bahrain.

The visit aligns with the Secretariat’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with various state institutions and society. By engaging students, the program seeks to create responsible youth leaders who understand parliamentary roles in oversight, legislation, and diplomacy. As a result, this initiative contributes to Bahrain’s national development and promotes parliamentary awareness among future generations.

Several prominent Members of Parliament met with the delegation. Notably, MP Dr. Ali Al Nuaimi from the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee, MP Zainab Abdul Ameer from the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, and MP Maryam Al Sayegh from the Foreign Affairs, Defense, and National Security Committee attended the session. In addition, MP Hisham Al Awadhi and MP Mohammed Musa from the Public Utilities and Environment Committee also participated. Their involvement allowed trainees to gain valuable insights into parliamentary functions and responsibilities.

During the visit, Mohammed Qarouf, Executive Parliamentary Tools Specialist, presented an informative video. Specifically, the presentation covered the Council’s powers, the legislative process, and key historical milestones. Moreover, he explained the role of permanent committees, investigation committees, and friendship committees in shaping policies and decisions.

Following the presentation, students observed part of the Council’s twentieth regular session in the main hall. Consequently, they witnessed firsthand how parliamentary sessions function and how representatives engage in discussions. Furthermore, they toured the Parliamentary Museum, which showcases Bahrain’s political and cultural evolution. The museum highlights significant historical events, national achievements, and the country’s legislative progress.

By actively engaging students in parliamentary training, Bahrain continues to cultivate informed leaders who appreciate the importance of governance. Thus, this initiative fosters national development and strengthens democratic values. Through education and experience, future leaders gain essential skills to contribute to Bahrain’s progress.
