Saudi Arabia’s customs authority has announced the seizure of 1,210 prohibited items during inspections carried out at the Kingdom’s land, sea and air border crossings over the past week.
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) said the operations included 88 drug-related cases involving cannabis, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, Captagon pills and other illegal substances.
Authorities also confiscated 402 prohibited items, 2,425 tobacco products and derivatives, and uncovered 18 cases involving undeclared cash. Three additional cases involved weapons and related items.
ZATCA said it will continue strengthening inspections at customs ports in cooperation with other government agencies as part of efforts to combat smuggling, enforce border security and protect society.
The authority also encouraged the public to report suspected smuggling activities and violations of the GCC Common Customs Law through its official reporting channels. It said all reports are treated confidentially and that individuals whose information leads to successful enforcement actions may be eligible for financial rewards.
