Oman’s Medical Specialty Board has organised a public awareness event in Muscat to encourage organ donation and increase community understanding of its role in saving lives.
Held under the theme “Give the Gift of Life,” the event aimed to promote donor registration while educating the public about the organs and tissues that can be donated, the medical and legal requirements for donation, and the registration process. Organisers also sought to dispel common misconceptions surrounding organ donation.
The programme featured panel discussions on the religious, legal and medical aspects of organ donation, with specialists and officials explaining the ethical framework, clinical procedures and regulatory standards governing transplantation in Oman.
An accompanying exhibition offered visitors information on every stage of the donation and transplant process, including eligibility criteria, patient care before and after transplantation, and the importance of physical and psychological rehabilitation for recipients.
The event, held at Al Araimi Boulevard in Muscat, attracted strong public participation, reflecting growing awareness of organ donation and its potential to improve and save lives.
