Muscat Launches Seven New Residential Parks to Boost Urban Living

Muscat is moving forward with residential park projects in Muscat to enhance green spaces, improve community well-being, and modernize urban neighborhoods. The municipality recently awarded contracts for seven new parks across several areas of the governorate. These initiatives reflect the city’s commitment to sustainable development and creating vibrant, human-centered neighborhoods.

At the municipality headquarters in Darsait, officials approved the rehabilitation of Wadi Al Kabir Park, spanning 2,363 square metres. The project includes children’s play areas, seating, shaded zones, and modern lighting. Meanwhile, Al Khiran Village Park, covering 5,878 square metres, will undergo similar upgrades to serve local residents better.

The municipality also approved the construction of a new park in Al Amerat, which will cover 8,750 square metres. Al Amerat Park will feature multi-purpose sports courts, playgrounds, shaded areas, and well-lit pathways. Additionally, two new residential parks are planned in Al Maabela. The first spans 7,417 square metres, and the second covers 10,091 square metres. Both will include seating areas, lighting, shaded spaces, children’s play zones, and multi-purpose courts. One park will also offer a café and public restrooms.

Other projects include a new park in Qurayyat, covering 7,698 square metres, and the development of Al Rawiyah Park in Muscat, which spans 251 square metres. These parks will feature green spaces, seating, and play areas to encourage active lifestyles and community engagement.

Officials explained that these residential park projects in Muscat align with Oman Vision 2040 by creating sustainable, human-centered urban environments. The projects aim to expand green coverage, optimize land use, and deliver modern, accessible public spaces for all residents.

Through these efforts, Muscat Municipality is enhancing the visual appeal of neighborhoods while promoting healthy lifestyles and stronger social cohesion. The new parks will provide residents with safe and attractive spaces for leisure, sports, and social activities. Experts say these initiatives will also support long-term environmental sustainability and a higher quality of urban life.

Overall, the implementation of residential park projects in Muscat marks a major step toward vibrant, sustainable neighborhoods. By increasing public amenities and green spaces, the city reinforces its commitment to creating a healthier, more connected community for all residents.
