Al Baraka Day Unites Employees Worldwide to Promote Sustainability and Community Growth

Al Baraka Group and its banking units across eight countries celebrated their fourth annual Al Baraka Day. The event focused on sustainability and community impact, highlighting building a better future.

More than 150 employees participated in Al Baraka Day, directly benefiting hundreds of families, students, and local communities. Therefore, the initiative reflects the Group’s commitment to social responsibility, environmental protection, and supporting the 15th United Nations Sustainable Development Goal: Life on Land.

In Bahrain, employees received eco-friendly plants and seedling pens to boost environmental awareness. Additionally, a virtual session involved 600 participants from different units, covering environmental, social, and governance concepts as well as Sustainable Development Goals. Moreover, planting initiatives increased green spaces near the Group’s headquarters.

Al Baraka’s global branches carried out local initiatives to strengthen communities. In Pakistan, staff, students, and academics planted over 150 trees at Karachi University’s Institute of Environmental Studies. This improved local greenery and supported biodiversity awareness. Meanwhile, in Tunisia, a cleanup at Ras Jebel forests removed heavy and light waste, restored soil health, and offered temporary jobs for vulnerable groups.

In Turkey, 250,000 seed balls were deployed via drones to reforest 31,000 square meters of land damaged by forest fires in Muğla. Employees also received seed balls to encourage personal contributions to agriculture. Furthermore, in South Africa, staff cleaned a nature reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, replaced old benches, and provided food and medical support.

In Egypt, employees joined the “Productive Schools” initiative by planting 200 fruit trees at a school in New Obour City. This activity raised environmental awareness and generated sustainable benefits for students. In Jordan, staff and students planted 100 evergreen trees at Independence Park to support biodiversity and encourage youth involvement. In Syria, Al Baraka signed an agreement to reforest areas in Latakia Governorate affected by forest fires, with work scheduled to start in December 2025.

The CEO of Al Baraka Group said: “Al Baraka Day shows how responsible actions help communities while protecting the environment. Our employees are committed to building a better future.”

Overall, Al Baraka Day strengthened environmental awareness, expanded green spaces, and supported biodiversity worldwide. Therefore, it clearly demonstrates the Group’s dedication to building a better future.
