The country’s athletes delivered strong performances, reinforcing their status in regional competitions. Moreover, fans celebrated key wins in fencing, wrestling, handball, and athletics.

On November 18, Qatar secured two bronze medals. Khalid Al Yafei earned bronze in the men’s foil fencing competition, while Shaheen Mohammad captured bronze in the 77 kg wrestling category. These achievements added to Qatar’s growing medal tally, which now stands at seven, including three gold and two silver medals. Observers praised the dedication and preparation that led to these victories, emphasizing Qatar’s sporting success in diverse disciplines.

Qatar’s national handball team also excelled. They defeated the Maldives 44-6 in the first stage, topping Group A with a perfect record. Their next challenge will be facing Bahrain, the runner-up of Group B, in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, the Group B leader, will compete against the UAE in the other semifinal. Qatar’s previous victories over Iran (39-23) and the UAE (41-24) demonstrated their strength and determination to defend the gold medal they won in Konya, Turkiye, in 2022.

Camel racing offered another highlight for Qatar. Hazem Abdullah Al Nudailah qualified for the men’s 2000-meter final by finishing second in the second heat at Al-Janadriyah Racecourse. The final will take place on Wednesday, and anticipation is high for a strong Qatari performance.

In athletics, Qatari runner Abubaker Haidar secured a spot in the 800-meter final by winning the first heat with a time of 1:50.09. Shot putter Ahmed Jibril finished fourth in the men’s competition with a throw of 18.51 meters. These results reflect the country’s investment in developing athletes across multiple sports, reinforcing Qatar’s sporting success as a growing force in regional competitions.

Overall, Qatar’s delegation has demonstrated skill, resilience, and consistency at the Games. Fans and officials celebrated each achievement, highlighting the dedication and preparation that led to these results. As the Games continue until November 21, Qatar aims to expand its medal tally further and maintain its strong presence across all sports.
