Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has departed China for a three-day state visit to Brunei Darussalam. The Brunei State Visit follows the conclusion of his official programme in Beijing. His departure marks the next stage of the Sultan’s diplomatic tour in Asia.
Chinese officials and Omani diplomatic representatives attended the farewell ceremony in Beijing. Among those present was Zhai Jun, the Chinese Government’s Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs. Oman’s Ambassador to China, Anwar bin Ahmed Muqabil, also attended the departure ceremony. Members of the Omani Embassy joined the officials to see the Sultan off.
Before leaving China, Sultan Haitham sent a formal message of thanks to Chinese President Xi Jinping. In his message, he expressed gratitude for the welcome and hospitality extended throughout his visit. He also conveyed appreciation for the attention and arrangements provided during his stay.
The Sultan highlighted the constructive outcomes of his engagements during the China visit. He said the results had helped strengthen bilateral relations and advance cooperation between both countries. Furthermore, he welcomed the progress made in developing their partnership across areas of mutual interest.
His message reflected Oman’s appreciation for the relationship with China. It also recognised the importance of continued engagement between the two countries. However, the statement did not provide details about specific agreements or individual discussions from the visit.
The conclusion of the China programme now brings the Sultan to Brunei Darussalam. His three-day visit carries the official designation of a state visit. The Brunei State Visit adds another diplomatic engagement to Oman’s programme of relations with Asian countries.
The farewell ceremony brought together representatives from both countries’ diplomatic and official circles. Zhai Jun’s attendance reflected China’s representation at the Sultan’s departure. Meanwhile, Ambassador Anwar bin Ahmed Muqabil represented Oman alongside embassy staff in Beijing.
The Sultan’s message also placed emphasis on the value of the visit’s outcomes. He specifically connected those results with stronger bilateral relations and expanded cooperation. Nevertheless, the announcement did not outline the next steps or provide details about future initiatives.
As Sultan Haitham continues his journey, attention turns to his scheduled stay in Brunei. The three-day programme marks the next destination following his engagements in China. The Brunei State Visit continues Oman’s diplomatic outreach, although details of its agenda remain unannounced.
