Oman Air Addresses Flight WY232 Delay from Hyderabad

Oman Air clarified the situation surrounding the delay of Flight WY232, which operated from Hyderabad to Muscat on January 9, 2025. The national airline explained that during the taxiing process, the aircraft encountered a technical issue and had to return to the gate. Despite efforts by the maintenance team to resolve the problem on-site, they were unable to fix it in time for departure.

The airline further explained that the issue resulted in inadequate air conditioning supply due to ground power limitations. To ensure the passengers’ comfort, the airline made the decision to disembark the passengers and return them to the terminal. The entire process took approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. During this period, the passengers were offered refreshments on the aircraft before disembarkation and again at the terminal.

Given the complexity of the technical failure, Oman Air dispatched a maintenance team on the first available flight from Muscat to address the issue. In the meantime, the affected passengers were provided with accommodation in nearby hotels. Some passengers opted to return home instead of waiting at the airport.

Following standard procedures, passengers who left the airport were required to complete normal immigration formalities. The airline rebooked all affected passengers on the next available flight the following day, which was 15 hours after the original departure time. Alternatively, passengers were offered flexibility to rebook for later dates at their convenience.

Oman Air apologized for the inconvenience caused by the delay and expressed appreciation for the passengers’ patience during this challenging situation.
