US Marks 250th Independence Day With Celebrations

The United States marked the 250th anniversary of its Independence Day on Saturday with nationwide celebrations, including parades, military flyovers and fireworks, as President Donald Trump led commemorative events across the country.

Kuwait’s leadership joined world leaders in marking the occasion. The Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, sent a message of congratulations to President Trump, highlighting the long-standing strategic partnership between Kuwait and the United States and expressing hope for stronger bilateral cooperation.

The Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah also sent congratulatory messages to their US counterparts.

In Washington, Independence Day celebrations featured an expanded fireworks display over the National Mall, while Trump took part in a series of events that included military flyovers and a public rally to commemorate the nation’s founding.

A day earlier, Trump addressed supporters at Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota, praising the country’s history and warning that America’s identity faced challenges from what he described as domestic extremists.

Vice President JD Vance echoed similar themes during remarks in New York, encouraging Americans to embrace what he called the nation’s achievements despite political differences.

The anniversary was celebrated against the backdrop of a severe heatwave affecting large parts of the United States, while demonstrations and counter-gatherings in Washington reflected the country’s continuing political divisions.

The 250th Independence Day celebrations offered both a national celebration and a moment of reflection on the country’s history, achievements and ongoing challenges.
