UNICEF Oman Engages Students in North Al Sharqiyah on Children’s Rights

UNICEF Oman has launched a series of dialogue sessions for students in North Al Sharqiyah, actively promoting children’s rights. The initiative coincides with World Children’s Day, themed “My Day, My Rights,” highlighting the importance of children’s participation in society. The sessions aimed to educate students about their rights while encouraging active involvement in their communities.

Organized in collaboration with the Office of the Governor of North Al Sharqiyah, the Children First Association, and the Ministry of Education, the event brought together students from public schools, private schools, special education schools, and social integration schools. UNICEF representatives facilitated discussions to ensure that they heard every child’s voice. Promoting children’s rights remained at the core of every session.

The dialogue sessions focused on several key areas, including education, health, environmental awareness, and climate change. Students were encouraged to ask questions, share their opinions, and explore ways to make a positive impact in their surroundings. Through interactive discussions, participants learned practical methods to protect their rights and support their peers.

In addition, the sessions highlighted the role of young people in community development. Students discussed how small actions, such as volunteering or raising awareness, contribute significantly to building safe and inclusive environments. UNICEF emphasized that children are powerful agents of change, capable of influencing their families, schools, and neighborhoods positively.

The sessions also included practical workshops to help students translate ideas into real actions. Activities encouraged teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving, showing students that their contributions matter. By engaging directly with students, UNICEF Oman strengthened local awareness about children’s issues and reinforced the importance of education in shaping future leaders. Promoting children’s rights continues to guide UNICEF Oman’s mission in the region.

Finally, the initiative called on community members, teachers, and families to support children actively. By working together, Oman can nurture informed, responsible, and confident young citizens. UNICEF Oman reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that every child enjoys their rights, participates in decisions affecting them, and grows in a safe and empowering environment.
