Oman’s South Al Batinah Region Sees Record Honey Production This Season

Oman honey production reached impressive levels in South Al Batinah this season. Moreover, Oman honey production reflects the region’s rich natural resources and beekeeping traditions. The growing output highlights Oman honey production’s role in boosting the local economy and supporting producers.

The Governorate of South Al Batinah recorded a total yield of 12,400 kilograms of local honey during the 2025 season. Statistics from the Directorate of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources show 7,136.5 kilograms came from Samar honey, 5,097.5 kilograms from Sidr honey, and 200 kilograms from other varieties. The total value surpassed RO 186.5.

The wilayats of South Al Batinah have long been known for their honey production and beekeeping expertise. They produce a variety of honeys, including Sidr, Samar, and multiple floral types. This variety reflects the region’s rich environment and diverse flora. In addition, favorable climate conditions and abundant natural resources contribute to honey quality, making it popular locally and internationally.

Ali Salim Al Fulaiti, Head of the Bee Section at the Directorate, explained that officials continue to support beekeepers and develop the honey industry. They organize marketing exhibitions to help producers reach new markets. These events encourage producers to improve packaging and presentation, giving consumers a chance to explore different honey types closely.

Furthermore, the Directorate conducts field visits and supervision programs. These initiatives provide technical guidance, improve production quality, and ensure high standards. As a result, the local economy benefits from strengthened honey-related business activity.

Al Fulaiti noted that these efforts align with Oman’s strategic plan to expand the beekeeping sector. Officials aim to enhance production efficiency, support local producers, and increase the international competitiveness of Omani honey.

Overall, Oman honey production continues to grow steadily, driven by tradition, natural advantages, and government support. Experts say that this trend strengthens South Al Batinah’s economy while ensuring sustainable development in agriculture.

With continued focus on quality, marketing, and technical support, South Al Batinah is set to remain a hub for premium honey production. Beekeepers benefit from ongoing guidance, while consumers gain access to a diverse range of honey varieties.
