UN Security Council To Review Bahrain Maritime Draft

The United Nations Security Council is expected to review a draft resolution submitted by Bahrain focusing on maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, amid rising regional tensions over international shipping routes.

Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani said the initiative is aimed at addressing what he described as threats to commercial navigation in the strategic waterway, calling for a coordinated international response.

The draft comes as Gulf states continue to raise concerns over the safety of shipping lanes that are vital for global energy supplies and regional trade flows.

At the same time, wider regional tensions remain high. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said recent strikes had significantly damaged Iran’s steel production capacity, claiming the attacks had reduced resources available to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Separately, Iran’s armed forces said they had launched drone strikes targeting what they described as US military support facilities in Jordan and Kuwait, in response to earlier American strikes on Iranian infrastructure.

The developments reflect continued escalation across West Asia, where multiple fronts of tension involving Iran, the United States, and Israel remain active alongside growing concerns over maritime security in key shipping corridors.
