UAE to Host Afghanistan and Bangladesh Bilateral Cricket Series

The UAE cricket bilateral series will bring Afghanistan and Bangladesh together in October. Both teams will play six white-ball matches across Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. The schedule begins just four days after the Asia Cup final on September 28.

The T20 internationals will open the series on October 2, 3, and 5 in Sharjah. After that, the one-day internationals will follow on October 8, 11, and 14 in Abu Dhabi. These fixtures give cricket fans in the Emirates a chance to enjoy top-level matches live.

Officials confirmed that the Bangladesh squad may stay in the UAE after the Asia Cup. This decision would reduce travel and allow both teams to prepare effectively. The UAE cricket bilateral series also strengthens the Emirates’ growing role as a reliable cricketing venue.

This series continues a plan first introduced in July 2024. The earlier tour included Test matches alongside ODIs and T20s. However, heavy rains in India and Bangladesh’s tight calendar forced a revision. Organizers shifted the focus toward limited-overs cricket and rescheduled the series for October.

The rivalry between Afghanistan and Bangladesh continues to grow stronger. Their ODI record currently stands balanced at two wins each. Bangladesh claimed victories in 2016 and 2022. Afghanistan responded with wins in 2023 and 2024. Their T20I battles remain equally competitive, with both nations sharing series wins.

The UAE cricket bilateral series highlights the country’s status as a cricket hub. The Emirates already hosted parts of the IPL and past Asia Cup tournaments. Its stadiums in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi consistently deliver strong facilities and memorable experiences for players and supporters alike.

Cricket officials see these games as another opportunity to confirm the UAE’s global sporting credibility. Fans expect closely fought matches given the teams’ balanced record. The fixtures also provide both squads with preparation ahead of larger international events.

In conclusion, the UAE will host Afghanistan and Bangladesh for an exciting cricket series. The games will showcase international competition while reinforcing the Emirates’ reputation as a world-class destination for sports.
