Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the recent statements made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the establishment of a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia, describing them as provocative and unacceptable.
In a firm response, the UAE reaffirmed its categorical rejection of such remarks, considering them a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. Khalifa Bin Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, expressed the UAE’s unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that the Kingdom’s security, stability, and sovereignty are paramount and must not be undermined.
He reiterated the UAE’s opposition to any actions that infringe upon the rights of the Palestinian people, including forced displacement and settlement expansion, which threaten regional stability and obstruct efforts to achieve peace. Al Marar called on the international community, including the United Nations and the UN Security Council, to take decisive measures to end illegal practices that contravene international law.
The minister further underscored the UAE’s long-standing commitment to supporting Palestinian rights, emphasizing the urgent need for a political framework that paves the way for a just resolution to the conflict. He reaffirmed that regional stability can only be ensured through the implementation of a two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Arab Parliament Condemns Remarks
Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, also criticized Netanyahu’s statements, warning that they could destabilize the region and threaten global peace. He denounced the remarks as a violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and a breach of international law.
Al Yamahi reiterated the Arab Parliament’s stance against any encroachment on the sovereignty of Arab nations and reaffirmed support for the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state within the 1967 borders, including the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem. He also expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in safeguarding its sovereignty and security.
Saudi Arabia Reaffirms Commitment to Palestinian Cause
Saudi Arabia acknowledged the widespread rejection of Netanyahu’s statements by Arab and Muslim nations, emphasizing the continued significance of the Palestinian cause. The Kingdom reaffirmed its categorical rejection of any rhetoric that seeks to divert attention from the ongoing crisis in Gaza, where the Israeli occupation has been accused of committing atrocities, including ethnic cleansing.
The Kingdom stressed that the Palestinian people have an undeniable connection to their land and rejected any attempts to displace them. It highlighted the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, where tens of thousands have been killed or injured, most of them women and children, in what it described as blatant disregard for human dignity.
Saudi Arabia also condemned extremist ideologies that undermine peace efforts and rejected coexistence, arguing that such perspectives have obstructed peace initiatives for decades. It reiterated that Palestinian rights remain indisputable and that true peace can only be achieved through the recognition of these rights and the establishment of a two-state solution based on justice and coexistence.
