The UAE and Chad have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations during talks between President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno in Abu Dhabi.
Déby is visiting the UAE on a working trip, where he was received at Al Bateen Airport by Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During their meeting, the two leaders reviewed ways to deepen cooperation across several sectors, including the economy, trade, development and renewable energy. They also underscored the importance of building on more than five decades of diplomatic relations through initiatives that support sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
A key item on the agenda was the progress of negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two countries. Once concluded, the agreement is expected to strengthen economic cooperation and create new opportunities for businesses and investors in both the public and private sectors.
The leaders also exchanged views on a range of regional and international developments of mutual interest, reaffirming their commitment to continued dialogue and cooperation on issues affecting regional stability and development.
The discussions reflect ongoing efforts by the UAE to expand its international partnerships and strengthen economic ties with countries across Africa.
