Iraqi Airways Flights Resume Operations to Northern Cities in Iran

National carrier Iraqi Airways flights officially resumed service to northern destinations across Iran on Thursday. Civil aviation authorities confirmed nine weekly operations connecting Iraqi airports directly with Rasht in Gilan province. Furthermore, airline administrators plan to expand flight offerings to capital city routes within the coming week. Consequently, restarting regular commercial aviation routes marks a major step toward restoring regional travel connections.

Aviation officials plan to schedule eighteen weekly direct connections between Baghdad, Najaf, and the Iranian capital. Additionally, the national carrier will introduce two regular weekly direct routes serving travelers heading to Mashhad. Regional air transit between both countries experienced severe operational suspensions following widespread airspace closures earlier this year. Therefore, expanding active flight schedules addresses growing cross-border travel demand among business professionals and pilgrims alike.

Iranian aviation regulators continue gradually reopening national airspace to accommodate higher volumes of foreign commercial traffic. Furthermore, major regional international carriers recently received official authorization to operate commercial routes through Iranian corridors. However, international aviation safety agencies maintain active travel advisories recommending caution regarding regional airspace usage. Thus, airlines continuously monitor regional security developments while expanding active commercial flight schedules across regional routes.

Aviation experts anticipate that restoring regular connections will significantly boost regional economic activity and cross-border trade. Moreover, regular flight schedules support tourism and cultural exchanges between neighboring communities across both nations. Carrier management teams expect passenger volume to increase steadily as more international routes reopen fully. Ultimately, the successful resumption of Iraqi Airways flights reflects ongoing efforts to restore normal regional transport operations.
