UAE Central Bank Unveils Limited-Edition Gold and Silver AI Commemorative Coins

The Central Bank of the UAE issued limited-edition gold and silver coins to mark MBZUAI fifth anniversary coins. The release celebrates the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence’s five-year journey. It also highlights its achievements from 2020 to 2025. Moreover, the move reflects the UAE’s focus on innovation and AI leadership. The coins also mark the university’s growing global reputation in AI research.

The coins carry special designs that link knowledge with national pride. On the gold coin, the obverse shows MBZUAI’s Knowledge Centre. It also includes the years “2020” and “2025” to mark the milestone. The design adds the phrase “Power from Knowledge to Serve,” surrounded by the university’s name in Arabic and English. The university’s logo also appears on the face. Meanwhile, the reverse features the UAE national emblem and the “Central Bank of the UAE” inscription.

The silver coin mirrors the gold design, but it adds geometric motifs. The obverse also shows the Knowledge Centre and the 2020–2025 years. The design includes the university’s name in both Arabic and English, along with the official logo. On the reverse, the coin shows the nominal value “Dh50.” It also includes the “Central Bank of the UAE” inscription in both languages.

Limited numbers of coins support the anniversary’s exclusivity. The bank issued 10 gold coins and 500 silver coins. Each coin weighs 50 grams. The coins arrived at MBZUAI and will not go on public sale. Therefore, collectors cannot buy them from the central bank or the university. As a result, the coins remain rare commemorative pieces.

The commemorative coins reflect MBZUAI’s role in science, technology, and AI. They also reinforce the UAE’s global position in innovation. In addition, the coins honor the university’s contributions to building a knowledge-based economy. As a result, the release supports national initiatives in education and research. The coins also highlight the country’s long-term vision for AI development.

The central bank highlighted its support for national achievements. It said the coins recognize MBZUAI’s role as a model for specialised academic institutions. The university praised the coins as a bridge between heritage and the future of AI. It said the coins reflect the UAE’s strategic vision and its global AI ambitions. Overall, MBZUAI fifth anniversary coins symbolize a blend of tradition, progress, and future technology.
