TNG Students Experience Umrah in Makkah and Madinah

TNG experiential learning came alive as students and teachers embarked on a five-day Umrah pilgrimage to Makkah and Madinah. The journey allowed participants to connect classroom lessons about Islamic history and values with real-life spiritual practice.

The pilgrimage began at Masjid al-Haram, where students performed Umrah with focus and devotion. Their dedication reflected personal discipline and the strength of their character. Teachers observed students engaging deeply in rituals while demonstrating respect for their surroundings.

Next, the group traveled to Masjid an-Nabawi, where they prayed in Riyadh ul-Jannah. Students reflected on their responsibilities to their families, school, and faith. They understood that their actions represented more than themselves.

Beyond rituals, the journey offered lessons in resilience, teamwork, and responsibility. Students climbed the historic path to the Cave of Hira, where the first Qur’anic revelation occurred. The challenging climb symbolized perseverance, mirroring their academic and personal journeys. One student said, “Reaching the summit together felt like a real achievement. It taught teamwork and support.”

Teachers encouraged students to lead their learning. Participants researched historical sites, asked insightful questions, as well as shared discoveries with peers. This student-led approach promoted independent thinking and critical inquiry, central to TNG’s mission.

Students managed their belongings, woke for Fajr prayers without reminders, and guided younger peers. These actions highlighted TNG’s core values of respect, cooperation, and personal responsibility. The trip demonstrated how education can extend beyond classroom walls.

The program reflects TNG’s vision to equip students to face global challenges while embracing Islamic values. Campus Head Rusna explained, “Students learned responsibility and practiced it with sincerity. They also embodied ambition and teamwork. This is experiential learning at its finest.”

The pilgrimage also reinforced academic excellence. TNG recently earned recognition in the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards, including a Top in the World distinction in Islamiyat. The school continues to integrate character development, faith, as well as active learning in Qatar’s education landscape.

TNG experiential learning proved that education thrives when knowledge meets real-world experiences, empowering students to grow spiritually, intellectually, and socially.
