Bahraini actress Shaila Sabt says she is eager to take on more complex and demanding roles, describing them as the best way to showcase her artistic abilities and expand her acting range.
Speaking during an appearance on the Kuwaiti radio program Hawana Khaleeji, Sabt reflected on key moments in her career, her experience in Gulf television drama, and the growing collaboration between production companies across the GCC.
During the interview, she revealed that she recently completed filming a new Kuwaiti comedy series titled Part of the Brain Is Missing, written by Issa Al-Hasawi and directed by Naaman Hussein. The 10-episode production also features actors including Hind Al-Balushi and Abdullah Bahman.
Sabt described the project as a refreshing experience, saying she plays a highly rational young woman who attempts to help restore her brother’s “missing brain cells” through a series of humorous events.
She also shared her views on the increasing popularity of short television series, saying the quality of the script remains the most important factor in determining a production’s success. According to Sabt, shorter dramas give actors a valuable opportunity to demonstrate their abilities when supported by strong writing, while longer series continue to offer their own unique strengths through broader storytelling and ensemble performances.
Looking ahead, Sabt said she hopes to portray more psychologically complex characters that challenge her as an actress. She also expressed a strong ambition to perform in high-quality theatre productions, describing the stage as the ideal platform to further develop and demonstrate her artistic skills.
