Security Cooperation Discussed by Saudi and Jordanian Crown Princes

Saudi and Jordanian leaders discussed regional security concerns and bilateral ties during talks focused on Security Cooperation in Riyadh. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah on Monday, November 2, 2026.

During the meeting, Prince Hussein condemned recent Houthi attacks in Yemen targeting Saudi Arabia. He also expressed Jordan’s support for measures Riyadh considers necessary to protect its national security and population.

Prince Hussein said Jordan stands behind Saudi Arabia’s efforts to address threats against its citizens and residents. He further affirmed Amman’s support for measures aimed at safeguarding the Kingdom’s resources and security.

The discussions reflected the close relationship between the two neighbouring countries. Both crown princes reviewed the longstanding ties connecting their nations and peoples. They also considered ways to expand cooperation across several areas of mutual interest.

The meeting comes amid regional security concerns following the recent attacks attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement. These developments have placed renewed attention on the security of Saudi Arabia and its surrounding region.

Through his remarks, Prince Hussein underlined Jordan’s position regarding threats directed at the Kingdom. His comments also highlighted the importance Amman places on maintaining close relations with Riyadh.

Beyond security matters, the two leaders discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Their talks covered shared interests and the potential to develop closer coordination across different fields.

Prince Hussein also conveyed greetings from Jordan’s King Abdullah II to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. In response, Crown Prince Mohammed asked him to deliver greetings from King Salman and himself to the Jordanian monarch.

The exchange reflected the diplomatic relationship between the two royal families. Such communications accompany regular engagement between the countries and reinforce their established bilateral ties.

Several senior Saudi officials attended the Riyadh meeting. They included Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region, and Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.

Minister of State Khalid Al-Issa also joined the Saudi delegation. Their attendance highlighted the diplomatic and governmental importance of the discussions.

Jordan’s delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi. Major General Majdi Al-Harasis, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, also attended.

Zaid Baqain, Director of the Jordanian Crown Prince’s Office, completed the delegation. His participation reflected the involvement of senior diplomatic and military representatives in the discussions.

The meeting brought together officials responsible for foreign affairs, defence and royal office coordination. Consequently, the talks provided an opportunity to address shared concerns through high-level diplomatic engagement.

The two countries maintain longstanding relations built around political, economic and security cooperation. Their latest discussions reaffirmed the importance of continued communication amid changing regional circumstances.

Security Cooperation remains a significant part of the relationship, particularly as both governments monitor regional developments. However, the announcement did not disclose specific new agreements or operational measures following the meeting.

Instead, the discussions focused on reaffirming support, reviewing bilateral relations and identifying shared priorities. The meeting also demonstrated continued high-level contact between Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
