Saudi Arabia Helps 63,000 Families Buy First Homes

More than 63,000 Saudi families became first-time homeowners during the first half of 2026 as the Kingdom continued expanding access to affordable housing through its Sakani program.

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing said 63,076 families moved into their first homes between January and June, including 12,004 families in June alone. During the same period, 48,631 families benefited from housing support services, with 10,160 receiving assistance in June.

Since its launch in 2017, the Sakani program has facilitated 1,046,890 subsidized housing contracts, offering a range of options including ready-built homes, off-plan properties, self-construction and residential land.

The ministry said the program continues to play a key role in increasing homeownership by providing housing and financing solutions tailored to different family needs and financial circumstances.

Housing developments delivered in partnership with private developers have also expanded the supply of homes while creating integrated residential communities with public facilities, services and green spaces.

According to the ministry, Saudi Arabia’s homeownership rate among Saudi families reached 66.24% by the end of 2025, moving the Kingdom closer to its Vision 2030 target of 70%.
