Saudi authorities detained 14,165 people during one week for breaching residency, labor, and border security regulations. Residency violations accounted for the largest share of arrests, with thousands detained across different regions.
Authorities reported that 7,121 individuals faced detention for breaking residency regulations during the reporting period. Meanwhile, 3,636 people were arrested over attempts to cross Saudi Arabia’s borders illegally.
Another 3,408 individuals faced action for violations connected to labor regulations, according to the authorities. Together, the figures highlight continued enforcement efforts targeting immigration and employment-related breaches across the Kingdom.
Furthermore, authorities detained 1,315 people while they attempted to enter Saudi Arabia through unauthorized routes. Among those individuals, Ethiopian nationals represented 58 percent of the reported cases.
Yemeni nationals accounted for another 41 percent of people detained during those attempted illegal entries. The remaining one percent came from other nationalities, according to the reported enforcement figures.
In addition, security authorities caught 42 people attempting to leave Saudi Arabia illegally and enter neighboring countries. Officials also detained 21 individuals for allegedly helping violators through transportation or accommodation.
The enforcement campaign covers several types of conduct that authorities classify as violations of national regulations. These include unauthorized border crossings, transporting violators, and providing shelter to people who breach residency rules.
Saudi authorities have also emphasized the serious legal consequences for anyone assisting illegal entry. Individuals who provide transportation, accommodation, or other forms of assistance may face significant penalties.
According to the Ministry of Interior, facilitators could receive prison sentences reaching up to 15 years. Authorities may also impose fines of as much as SR1 million, equivalent to approximately $267,000.
Moreover, authorities can confiscate vehicles and property connected to activities that facilitate illegal entry into the Kingdom. These measures demonstrate the government’s strict approach toward activities that undermine border and residency controls.
Residency violations remain a major part of the enforcement figures, representing more than half of all reported arrests. The authorities continue to monitor compliance with regulations governing foreign residents and employment within Saudi Arabia.
At the same time, border security remains another significant focus, particularly regarding unauthorized entry and attempts to leave the Kingdom illegally. Officials continue coordinating enforcement measures to identify individuals involved in such activities.
The authorities have encouraged residents to report suspected violations through designated emergency and security telephone numbers. People in the Makkah and Riyadh regions can use the toll-free number 911 to submit reports.
Residents in other parts of Saudi Arabia can instead contact authorities through 999 or 996. These reporting channels allow members of the public to provide information about suspected breaches of regulations.
The latest figures reflect continued enforcement against residency violations, unauthorized border movement, and labor-related breaches. Authorities have reiterated that individuals assisting violators could face severe legal consequences.
