Qatar Strengthens Global Security Ties with Interpol Collaboration

Qatar is advancing international security cooperation as the Interior Ministry met with Interpol leadership to discuss joint initiatives. This meeting highlights Qatar’s commitment to global security and expertise sharing. The focus on enhancing law enforcement collaboration was central to the discussions, emphasizing a proactive approach to tackling transnational crime.

The Interior Minister and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), also Chairman of the Security Committee, met with Interpol Secretary General Valdecy Urquiza. Both sides explored ways to boost coordinated efforts against organized crime. They also examined mechanisms to improve intelligence sharing and strengthen operational readiness across borders.

A key achievement from the meeting was the signing of a memorandum of understanding to expand the STADIA Project. Initiated in 2012 with Qatar’s funding, this program assists countries hosting major sports events while transferring security expertise. The STADIA Project also aims to improve police capabilities, implement best practices, and ensure the safe management of large-scale international events.

Representatives signed the agreement to formalize the expansion. Brigadier Jassim Al Buhashim Al Sayed signed on behalf of the Security Committee, while Secretary General Valdecy Urquiza signed for Interpol. This step demonstrates Qatar’s active role in promoting international safety standards and effective event security.

During the meeting, both parties underscored the importance of knowledge transfer and technology sharing. By focusing on international cooperation, Qatar strengthens its position as a hub for safe and secure sporting events while supporting global crime prevention efforts.

Experts note that such collaborations are crucial in today’s interconnected world, where criminal networks operate across multiple countries. Qatar’s emphasis on joint security operations reflects a long-term strategy to protect residents, visitors, and international stakeholders.

The Interior Ministry highlighted that enhancing international security remains central to Qatar’s efforts. It was referenced throughout discussions, agreements, and planning for ongoing collaborations. This shows Qatar’s consistent commitment to improving safety measures worldwide.

In conclusion, Qatar’s engagement with Interpol reinforces its leadership in global security initiatives. Through expanding the STADIA Project and strengthening intelligence sharing, the country sets an example for proactive law enforcement. Continuous cooperation ensures that both Qatar and its international partners remain at the forefront of organized crime prevention and event safety.
