Qatar Resumes All Maritime Activities Immediately

Qatar has announced the immediate resumption of all maritime activities, ending a temporary suspension that had affected sailing and fishing boats.

The Ministry of Transport said vessel operators and users can resume operations provided they comply with all maritime regulations, safety requirements and technical standards.

The decision reverses an advisory issued on June 29 that called for the temporary suspension of sailing and fishing activities until further notice. Commercial shipping had remained exempt from the restriction.

The ministry said the resumption of maritime activities is subject to strict adherence to approved preventive measures designed to ensure the safety and security of all voyages.

It urged vessel owners, maritime operators and seafarers to follow all applicable regulations and ensure that required safety and security equipment is available on board before and during every trip.

The ministry said compliance with the guidelines is essential to maintaining safe maritime operations and reducing potential risks at sea.
