Qatar Leads Global Push for Social Development at World Summit

Qatar hosted the Second World Summit for Social Development, highlighting its role in global social development efforts. Moreover, the summit showed how countries can work together for peace, fairness, and progress. Delegates attended the event at the Qatar National Convention Centre, which concluded with a strong political declaration.

The summit brought governments, private sectors, trade unions, and civil society groups together. Therefore, it offered a unique chance to discuss shared priorities and solutions. Lauren Graham, Vice President for Special Projects at the International Consortium for Social Development, praised the summit as a landmark event. Professor Manohar Pawar from Charles Sturt University in Australia highlighted social development priorities from 1995. Delegates appreciated Qatar’s hospitality and organization. Rui Pacheco from Timor-Leste said the summit offered a great opportunity to learn from other countries. Furthermore, he explained that it helps all nations build momentum for better social policies and reforms.

Norman Mulela from Botswana, representing the Employers’ Federation, praised the summit’s inclusive approach. He highlighted cooperation between governments, employers, and trade unions, known as “tripartism,” as essential for shaping fair policies. He also thanked Qatar for running the event smoothly and effectively.

In addition, Qatar reinforced its dedication to global social development efforts by providing a strong platform for discussion and action. The summit showed that collaboration, guidance, and shared solutions can drive real change.

Overall, by hosting the summit, Qatar strengthens its role as a mediator in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and social policy. Consequently, it continues to inspire countries worldwide.
