The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 and the Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) have signed a cooperation agreement with Qatari Diar to host the Lusail 3×3 Challenger. The event will take place on May 2-3, 2025, at Lusail Boulevard, Al Sadd Plaza.
The agreement was signed by QBF President Mohammed Saad Al-Mughaiseeb and Fahad Abdullatif Al Jahrami, Chief Development and Asset Management Officer of Qatari Diar.
A total of 16 teams from 11 countries will compete in this exciting event. The countries include France, Serbia, Puerto Rico, the USA, Switzerland, Latvia, Lithuania, Spain, Rwanda, Japan, and five teams from Qatar.
The tournament will play a key role in promoting basketball in Qatar. It will build momentum for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, fostering community engagement and youth participation.
Al-Mughaiseeb expressed excitement about hosting the event, saying it marks an important step towards the 2027 World Cup. He emphasized Qatar’s commitment to bringing basketball closer to the community and providing fans with a dynamic sporting experience. The Lusail 3×3 Challenger will offer an exciting mix of world-class competition and unforgettable fan moments. This will be set against the backdrop of Lusail’s vibrant cityscape.
