The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library announced that it will host the second Dubai International Library and Publishing Summit from October 30 to November 1, 2025. The central theme of this year’s edition focuses on the publishing industry and its future.
The event builds on the success of the first summit and expands its vision. Organizers explained that the summit will serve as a platform for global and regional leaders to discuss sector challenges and identify opportunities. At the same time, the initiative supports Dubai’s strategy to grow a knowledge-driven economy and advance digital transformation in creative fields.
This year’s program revolves around five major themes. The first theme, Innovations, Technology, and Transformation, explores the impact of artificial intelligence, blockchain, machine translation, and immersive storytelling. The second theme, The Global Publishing Landscape, highlights rights, marketing, and sales, while showcasing Dubai’s role in international trade. The third theme, Translation, focuses on cultural exchange, language precision, and market expansion. The fourth theme, Publishing with Purpose, discusses sustainability, inclusive formats, and accessibility. Finally, The Craft of Writing celebrates authors, designers, typographers, and illustrators who create meaningful works.
Over 55 sessions and workshops will take place during the summit. More than 80 speakers representing 14 countries, including five keynote speakers, will lead discussions. The workshops will cover translation, editing, publishing operations, children’s literature, and typography. They will also highlight inclusive and creative work environments within the sector.
Organizers expect strong participation from publishers, booksellers, literary agents, award organizations, and university presses. The summit will also welcome executives from three major global houses, including Penguin Random House, Simon & Schuster, and HarperCollins. Representatives of the Arab publishing community and the Emirates Publishers Association will contribute to regional dialogue.
The publishing industry summit aims to deliver measurable outcomes. These include practical roadmaps to develop the sector, regional and international partnerships, and initiatives to boost the Arab world’s global presence. In addition, the summit will emphasize youth engagement and support new talent.
By hosting this event, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library reinforces Dubai’s commitment to innovation, culture, and creativity. The summit places the city at the center of the global publishing industry and shapes its path forward.
