Oman’s Al Wusta Governorate Accelerates Economic Growth with Major Development Projects

Al Wusta Governorate is increasing local economic growth through development projects in its four wilayats. These projects improve roads, public services, and tourism, giving new opportunities to residents and businesses. The focus on economic growth and development shows in projects that mix culture with modern improvements.

Governor Ahmed Musallam Al Kithiri said officials are carrying out more than 22 projects across villages, costing OMR20 million. In Haima, seven projects worth OMR5.732 million aim to improve public spaces and attract visitors. However, the Knowledge Park and Exhibitions Square, costing OMR796,000, improve the town’s appearance. A camel racing track costing OMR248,000 supports local culture. Haima also spends OMR1.8 million on housing projects and OMR2 million to build 30 kilometers of roads and add 250 street lights.

Mahout is working on six projects totaling OMR5.873 million. Officials are building the Central Market, costing OMR450,000, to support local business. They are also updating the town center’s buildings for OMR1.5 million. Teams are fixing roads, planning commercial areas, and adding 350 street lights. Parks and beach shelters in Wadi Al-Seil, Al-Khulouf, Sarab, and Al-Ghadn are under construction with a total cost over OMR1.385 million.

In Duqm, six projects worth OMR5.107 million are in progress. Teams are developing Ras Madrakah waterfront and village buildings for OMR1.265 million. Eco-tourism projects, like Wadi Tharf, receive OMR744,000. Workers are also paving 30 kilometers of roads and a 17-kilometer road from Hitam to Al-Bar. They are adding 250 street lights and building a football field in Hitam village for OMR98,000.

Al Jazer is improving beaches, roads, and lighting with projects costing OMR2.837 million. Teams are building a camel racing track and football field to boost recreation.

The governorate also drives economic growth and development through shrimp and sea cucumber farming, solar and wind energy, and green hydrogen projects. Overall, officials support youth and women programs, sports fields, and community events. By improving roads, tourism, and jobs, Al Wusta is becoming a hub for economic growth and development, offering new chances to people and investors.
